The Lazy Labrador is located 10 minutes drive from a short walk to an excellent flying site on La Bourgeoise. La Bourgeoise is at 1,600 metres and is a safe grassy take off in south east – south – south west wind directions. On flyable days the Bourgeoise provides excellent cross country access (1) to the east, to La Criou & glorious high alpine pastures that on most reasonable flying days can provide hours of flying enjoyment (2) to the west, to Praz de Lys and Miussy along a forested and rocky ridge line (3) to the north, to Morzine, Chatel and Lake Geneva.
On the opposite side of the valley and accessible by car and a fast ski lift (open in winter & summer) there is a grassy flying site at Samoëns 1,600. The lift is 10 minutes drive from the Lazy Labrador. Samoëns 1,600 is where most beginners learn to fly. The site provides cross country potential into (1) the Grand Massif (2) La Criou (3) the Massif du Gifffre.
The landing in Samoëns is at the swimming pool and is a large grassy field. The valley is wide and valley winds are not usually a problem even in August. There are also a number of suitable fields for landing close to the Lazy Labrador.
There are many other flying sites about an hours drive away or less, for example, at Miussy (Col de Petroset), Annecy (Col de la Forclaz) and Chamonix (Planpraz).
There is a paragliding school in Samoëns:-
