The Lazy Labrador provides an ideal base for families in summer and winter:-
Markets- Every Wednesday morning there is a market in Samoëns town that is an enjoyable morning for all the family.
Food- There are a range of restaurants in Samoëns that provide family friendly meals with plenty of mountain atmosphere. There is a supermarket in Samoëns and specialist food shops selling a variety of local specialities.
Swimming- There is a swimming lake in Morillon (with a sandy beach) and a large municipal swimming pool in Samoëns that has large grassy lawns for picnics and relaxation. The pool in Samoëns is suitable for children of all ages and has great mountain views.
Tennis- There are tennis courts in Samoëns next to the skimming pool.
Cycling & mountain biking- There is a down hill course from Samoëns 1,600 that can be accessed by the ski lift (open in summer) and 100s of kilometres of marked mountain bike trails around Samoëns on both sides of the valley. Cycles can be hired in Samoëns.
Horse riding- There is pony riding at the Lac de Morrilon and at Sixte Fer Cheval. There is riding for adults at Sixte Fer Cheval up to the end of the valley. This is a beautiful ride and winds through streams and rivers of the valley.
Walking- There numerous mountain and valley walks that provide opportunities for adults and children alike. There are many waterfalls that provide exciting backdrops and beautiful flora (especially in spring) and fauna (chamois and buquetins).
Rafting & canoeing- For able swimmers aged 7 and over the Giffre provides excellent canoeing and rafting that is fun for all the family.
Canyonning & caving- Samoëns is a great base for Canyonning and caving and there are local guides who can provide the equipment and take you on family days out to the less challenging canyons & caves.
Paragliding- Air Samoëns located at the swimming pool can take you on a tandem flight and teach you to fly paragliders.
